Okay, so I've finally got my entries down. The first one is for
Melody's contest.
Gina
I think I will pass out. Or more
preferably, DIE. I’m
standing
here in a weird, unfamiliar alley, the pouring rain drenching me to the bone. I
wandered into this alley, and found I could not leave, no matter how hard I
tried. I looked around at my surroundings, trying to find something
interesting. The alley was dark, and cold. All the happiness of the streets and
stores seemed to be sucked up and thrown away when you were standing here. Not
that I did anything happy while Dad was buying batteries. I looked at the
ground. Just cobblestones. I heard a cat meow, and then a cat fight. Great.
Nothing could have been worse if it was anyone else. But it’s me.
I’m
Gina, and my life was absolutely fine this morning. The sun was shining with an
indescribable beauty, Dad drinking coffee while watching TV, Mom and my little
(twin) sisters out on a walk. But then Dad just had to go and bring me to buy
ANOTHER pack of batteries at the drug store. Of course he forgets I’m alive,
and leaves me here. The rain has picked up. Now I feel like someone is throwing
gallons of water at me non-stop. “Please,” I whispered, “Please stop raining.”
Not that whimpering would do any good. It’s getting late now. How long have I
been out here? I checked my watch, luckily its waterproof. 6:49 pm. Oh my gosh!
Three hours, and Dad hasn’t noticed? Mom is going to be sick. I’m going to be
sick……
7:31 pm – Same Day
I
heard a noise. Like a dog. Like a dog and a wolf. Like a dog and a wolf and a
cat. And a man. Oh, forget it! Werewolves aren’t
real, no matter WHAT anyone says. But, maybe they are. And there I go, rambling on again about
things that aren’t real. Eeek! A rat! This is gross. Wait, why am I still here?
I tried moving out into the street. As soon as I got to the beginning of the
sidewalk, something in my mind told me, “No, no, stay here. A great adventure
is about to begin.” I listened to it. Bad mistake on my part, because as soon
as I turned back around, I saw a huge, hairy, horrendous shape prowling behind
a trash can. I tried to scream, but no noise came out. I grabbed a random umbrella
from the ground (wait, where did that come from??) and held it in front of me
like a weapon. The ‘werewolf’ sprang out from behind the trash can, only to
have another one with huge, saber tooth fangs jump onto its back and start to
rip his throat. The first werewolf had extremely sharp claws, they glinted in
the slight sunlight started fighting Fang. They rolled around on the wet
cobblestones, their fur becoming matted and dirty. Sharp Claw’s eyes locked
with mine, and he stood up. He ran at me again, but Fang locked his jaw on
Sharp Claw’s tail. Sharp Claw wailed in pain, and tried to spin back around to
attack Fang instead. Fang let go of Sharp Claw’s tail, and pounced on his back.
They were a tumble of fur, claws, and teeth. As they fought, a slender she-wolf
slunk out of the shadows and started towards me. I stood completely still,
thinking how gentle she looked, how calm and peaceful… Selena would be a
charming name for her… Selena kept padding towards me and stopped at my foot.
She sat down and stared into my small, brown eyes with her big, blue ones. She
seemed to tell me to follow her. I stared at her for a while, and then looked
to see what happened to Fang and Sharp Claw. They had stopped their brawl, and
were watching Selena intently. She noticed them, gave one dainty bark, and
started walking to the back of the alley. She stopped. I stopped. Fang and
Sharp Claw stopped. Selena laid down, and I nestled next to her. I fell asleep
after that, but I think Fang and Sharp Claw took turns taking watch. I don’t
know why…
12:23 am – next day
I
just woke up to see ghosts, yes, GHOSTS floating around. Maybe Fang and Sharp
Claw were making sure they didn’t come close because they seemed to be keeping
to an imaginary perimeter. I woke up Selena. She got to her feet and sniffed
the air. She went behind a trash can while I looked at the ghosts. One saw me.
She floated over, and passed through me. I shivered, ghosts are cold. The ghost
stretched her arm out, gesturing me to “hold” her hand. I did, and I can’t explain
how I held it but somehow I did, I just kind of lifted my hand in midair right
next to hers. The night was cold, but touching her hand made me warm. I don’t
understand why because when she went through me she had just about frozen me!
Selena came out from behind the trash can, a scroll of parchment in her mouth.
The ghost started floating forward. I followed her, and Selena followed me. The
ghost led me out of the alley, through the empty streets, and toward my little
house on the outskirts of town. Selena put a paw on my foot, and I took the
parchment scroll out of her mouth. She ran back to the town, her tail held
high. I looked back to the ghost, and she nodded her almost transparent head.
We went through the door without opening it. I don’t know why or how, it felt
like walking through Jell-O, not that I’ve ever walked through Jell-O before.
She led me up to my room, set me down in my bed, and vanished. I fell asleep
the moment my head hit the pillow…
2:30 pm – same day
Dad
keeps telling me it was a dream, mom keeps feeling my head, and I just sit in
bed and draw. I drew everything from my NOT dream. I know that it was all
real, and that’s all that matters. I opened the parchment scroll and read a
note inked in quick written scrawl:
Dear Gina,
I write this letter in need of dire
help. A terrible curse has fallen upon the Kingdom of Eroalla. You and three
other mortals have The Sight. You must come to Eroalla NOW to help save it. If
Eroalla dies, so will your world. Meet Dean, Cassie, and Joey on 23rd
street July 27th. We will be waiting.

Do you like it? =) It's part of a story I'm writing for NaNoWriMo. And this one is for
Storyteller's contest.
There were once three
brothers who worked at an investment bank called Wolf Inc. Mr. John Wolf is
their manager. Now, Mr. Wolf here is an evil man. He gets employees to choose
bad companies to put their money in, just so he can fire them and look good in
front of his dad (who owns Wolf Inc.) But he hasn’t met the Schwine brothers.
Tom, Dick, and Harry all graduated from Yale, and are all very intelligent. At
least one of them can beat Mr. Wolf. But
who? Why are you asking silly questions? Keep reading and find out.
The three Schwine brothers all put their money into three
different stocks. Mr. Wolf talked to each of them, trying to persuade them into
bad stocks. Now, Tom ‘thought’ that Electric Forks Co. was a good choice. The
rest of the world didn’t quite agree. Down, down, down went the stocks. Tom was
frightened, and tried to hide the news from Mr. Wolf. But at the end of the
week when Mr. Wolf asked the employees how their stocks were going, Tom had to
spill. Mr. Wolf grinned evilly and said,
“Mr. Tom Schwine, YOU’RE FIRED!” And Tom was beat.
Dick was a little smarter. He invested in Clown Frowns,
an artist. Robert, the owner of this company, sold drawings of clowns. A few
people like the art, but the business was going down. In one last attempt to save
his job, Dick Tweeted and emailed everyone to buy Clown Frowns. He asked the
newspaper to put an add in, and he also posted it on his Facebook, Tumblr, and
Blog. No luck. The end of the week came much too fast, and Dick had to confess.
“Bye bye.” Mr. Wolf snickered as Dick told his story. And Dick was beat.
Harry, being the only Schwine left, must choose his
company well. Ignoring Mr. Wolf after many hours of contemplation, Harry puts
his money in Apple. The stocks were doing well, and Mr. Wolf was getting
anxious. At the end of the week, Harry had an outstanding report. Mr. Wolf
tried to think of a way to fire him, but they were gathering too much money.
Mr. Wolf was beat, and Harry was rich. The employees voted Harry as the new
Manager. Mr. Wolf was sent to a different office, and was never mean to his
employees. He seldom left his office, and was never heard from by the Schwines.
Harry’s brothers were very glad for him. He re-hired his
brothers, helping them choose stocks. Soon they were all very rich and content.
Finally, Tom and Dick asked Harry what his secret was, and he replied, “Choose
something the public likes, and never listen to a Wolf.”
It's a story I wrote for a writing club I do with Daylily and some other girls. The theme was a fairy-tale and it's kind of silly. =) I didn't come up with a name for it... =P
